Trump V The Truth: Over 100 False President Claims Debunked | Channel 4 https://youtu.be/XqY8Hq97sUo
(When the above link for Channel 4 goes private then HBO tracked another confusing set of fake facts from Trump here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xecEV4dSAXE)
100 false or misleading claims from the Channel 4 documentary, each with a short correction.
Drug prices cut by “1,200%, 1,400%, 500%.” A price can’t fall by more than 100%; no policy produced such cuts.
U.S. would “pay as low as the lowest nation” for drugs via a ‘favoured nations’ rule. That sweeping policy was never implemented.
John Trump was the longest-serving MIT professor. He was a respected MIT professor, but not the longest-serving.
Trump correctly predicted the Brexit vote while “opening the first course at Aberdeen… the day before the vote.” His Scotland visit overlapped results day; the neat-timing claim is embellished.
Kashmir conflict has raged for 1,000–1,500 years. The dispute dates to the mid-20th century partition, not ancient times.
White South Africans are victims of an ongoing “genocide.” South Africa has a high violent-crime rate, but genocide claims are unsubstantiated.
U.S. was creating an expedited refugee path for white South Africans. No such special federal program existed.
Burial-cross montage proves 1,000+ white farmers murdered in a campaign. Images have been reused and miscaptioned; they don’t prove a targeted genocide.
NY courthouse project “went from $2.7B to $3.1B,” with officials unaware. He asserts a surprise overrun the officials immediately contradict; his figure-play misleads.
$50M “sent to Gaza to buy condoms for Hamas,” used to make bombs. No evidence the U.S. funded Hamas condoms; the cited program was HIV prevention elsewhere.
White House residence windows can’t open; they’re sealed/bulletproof. Residence windows can and do open; staff and photos show they’re operable.
2020 U.S. election “totally rigged.” Dozens of courts and state officials found no outcome-changing fraud.
“Only country in the world” with mail-in voting. Many democracies allow postal voting.
Jan 6 crowd “had no guns.” Arrests included firearms and other weapons; multiple armed individuals were charged.
“Nearly $3T” in new investments secured by his first business day. No evidence supports multi-trillion commitments on day one.
Then $6T, $7T, $8T, $9–10T of investments “over two months.” These escalating totals are invented; no credible accounting exists.
MS-13 tattoo on a suspect’s knuckles; photo wasn’t photoshopped. The claimed “MS13” tattoo evidence has been misrepresented.
Ukraine “started a war” with Russia. Russia launched the full-scale invasion in Feb 2022.
U.S. gave Ukraine “$300–$350B+; Europe gave $100B.” U.S. support is far below $300B; European aid is comparable or larger by some measures.
Europe “gets their money back” on Ukraine aid; America does not. Both provide a mix of grants/loans; no special European rebate exists.
He “invented” the word “equalize.” “Equalize” has existed for centuries.
“The U.S. split the atom.” The first atom-splitting experiment is credited to Ernest Rutherford’s team in Manchester (UK).
Egg prices “down 93–94%” since he took office; was urged to buy plastic eggs. Prices fluctuated but not by >90%; the anecdote is fanciful.
Germany “went so green they almost went out of business,” then “opened coal plants all over.” Germany’s energy mix changed, but the “all over” reopening claim is exaggerated.
“When I left you had peace all over the world.” Conflicts (e.g., Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria) continued.
“Biden got none” of the Oct 7 hostages released. U.S. diplomacy helped broker releases; some occurred during Biden’s term.
ISIS “got rid of in three weeks.” The territorial defeat took years and multinational effort.
“We’ve beaten [ISIS] badly… taken back the land,” nearly done two years in. Contradicts his own “three weeks” and overstates the timeline.
“U.S. banks aren’t allowed to do business in Canada.” Several U.S. banks operate in Canada.
He opposed the Iraq War from the start. Recorded comments show early support.
“Paris Olympics” had a male boxer win women’s gold; two transitioned athletes won. Fabricated; no such results.
Signed a federal order cutting funds to schools over “transgender insanity.” No such national order exists.
Banned “chemical and surgical mutilation” of minors nationwide. No nationwide federal ban was enacted.
Some states can force gender care “without parents’ notification or approval.” States do not legally compel such procedures without consent.
“I stopped seven wars… Congo, Pakistan-India.” No evidence he personally ended these wars.
Claims he stopped a 35-year machete war in Congo killing 9M. Grossly distorts conflicts in the region and timelines.
“I stopped the war between Pakistan and India.” There was no such war for him to stop.
Executive order “bringing back plastic straws.” No federal EO exists dictating straw materials.
“G8 became G7 because Obama and Trudeau threw Russia out.” Russia was suspended by G7 as a whole after Crimea; Trudeau wasn’t PM in 2014.
Sea level “to rise 1/8 inch in 300 years.” Observed and projected rises are far larger.
Some governors kept schools “100% open,” citing Tennessee, South Carolina. Both had closures and hybrid periods during COVID waves.
“Largest tax cut in U.S. history.” 2017 law isn’t the largest by several metrics.
Ashli Babbitt was “innocently standing there… holding back the crowd.” Video shows her attempting to enter a blocked area through a broken door.
U.S. pays “hundreds of billions” to defend Japan; Japan “pays nothing.” Japan pays significant host-nation support; U.S. doesn’t pay “hundreds of billions.”
Zelensky “walked out with $50B” each visit; once “$100B”; total “$350B.” Made-up figures.
“A trillion dollars” of U.S. rare earths repatriated from abroad. Nonsense; rare-earth extraction is domestic mining, not repatriation.
U.S. owes “$200B with Canada” and “$350B with Mexico.” Trade deficits of that size with those countries are inaccurate.
“No inflation” and prices down during his first term. There was inflation; prices for many items rose.
“China operates the Panama Canal; we’re taking it back.” Panama controls the canal; the U.S. isn’t “taking it back.”
He called in the Guard to save Minneapolis when the governor wouldn’t. Governors control Guard; Minnesota activated its Guard.
“Strongest peacetime recruiting records ever” after shortfalls. Recruiting remained strained; claim is baseless.
Wind turbines kill “hundreds” of bald eagles. Numbers are far lower; protections and penalties exist.
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore privately called him “greatest president of my lifetime.” Unsubstantiated anecdote contradicted by Moore’s public stance.
Social Security lists millions aged 110–149 receiving money; “money is being paid to many.” Wildly false; database anomalies don’t equal active payments.
He “canceled Joe Biden’s EV mandate” on day one. There was no single EV “mandate” to cancel by EO.
Midwest built 8–9 electric “power stations” (chargers) for $9B; half didn’t work. Invented figures; public charger rollouts are not remotely that scale/cost.
EU VAT is “equivalent to a tariff”; EU “doesn’t take our cars or farm products.” VAT applies domestically; EU imports U.S. cars and agriculture.
He’s the only president (maybe Washington) to donate his salary. Herbert Hoover and JFK donated salaries.
“Highest poll numbers any Republican president has ever had.” Polling doesn’t support that superlative.
“21 million people poured in over four years; many murderers, traffickers.” Magnitude is fabricated; crime-rate claims about immigrants are false.
“Hannibal Lecter is actually not fictional.” He is a fictional character.
World prison populations are low because countries dumped inmates into the U.S. Baseless.
Jerome Powell’s nickname is “Too Late”; Biden extended him and he (Trump) now fired him. Powell was reappointed by Biden in 2021; presidents can’t arbitrarily fire Fed chairs over policy.
“We won Michigan three times.” He won it in 2016 only.
Won the youth vote by 36 points. He has not won the under-30 vote by anything close to that margin.
WWII had “seven” four-star generals; today “44 four-star generals.” Numbers are wrong for both eras.
Ukraine under martial law; Zelensky at “4% approval”; country “blown to smithereens.” Approval was far higher; description is hyperbolic.
Spain is a BRICS nation. Spain is not in BRICS.
300,000 U.S. fentanyl deaths per year; lots via Canada. Total U.S. overdose deaths ~100k/yr from all drugs; Canada is not a main route.
38,000 died building the Panama Canal; 25% death chance. Total deaths (French + U.S. eras) are much lower than 38k.
Panama Canal “most expensive development in U.S. history… $1.5T today.” Inflation-adjusted costs are far below that.
Scotland has “no crime… no muggings.” False.
Wind turbines causing UK energy prices to “go through” the roof. Wind reduces wholesale prices over time; price spikes were gas-driven.
Wind farms caused 18 whale strandings; “driving them crazy.” No evidence links whale deaths to wind surveying.
D.C. now “totally safe”; “no murders in the last week” because of him. Claims credit he doesn’t have; week-to-week murders do occur.
Harvard is “31% foreign,” won’t say who, and receives “billions” in federal grants; no foreign gov’t money. Numbers are off; funding and donor sources are mischaracterized.
U.S. alone gave $60M food aid to Gaza; “no other country gave anything.” Other countries provided aid.
Biden “gave a pardon yesterday to a lot of criminals,” and pardoned the Jan 6 committee. Made-up event; committees aren’t people and can’t be “pardoned.”
AA regional jet collided with a Blackhawk over the Potomac. Fabricated incident.
FAA “diversity” push began under Biden; he “changed it,” then changed back “two days ago.” Policy predates Biden; his timeline is incoherent.
U.S. ranked “40 of 40” in education under Biden. Not how international assessments work; the claim is bogus.
Autism: from 1 in 20,000 to 1 in 34 in ~18 years. Past prevalence was not 1:20,000; he mangles timeframes and figures.
Had “the best border in history for almost four years”; “lowest numbers ever” by the end. Encounters rose sharply late in his term.
He fired the head of BLS for “wrong numbers.” BLS Commissioner has a fixed term; there’s no record of such a firing.
Pre-1913 U.S. had no income tax and “so much money we didn’t know what to do with it.” Cartoonish history; federal revenue and spending were limited.
Made tax cuts permanent; no tax on tips/overtime/Social Security enacted. Those are proposals, not law.
“Groceries, gasoline, energy… down with no inflation. We have no inflation.” Inflation has been present; some categories rose substantially.
Brazil “one of the worst” on tariffs; U.S. “wasn’t charging anything.” Both sides levy tariffs; characterization is lopsided.
Los Angeles protests were “paid insurrectionists.” No evidence of organized paid insurrection.
U.S. is the “only country” with birthright citizenship; “certainly the only to that extent.” Several countries grant jus soli citizenship.
China “never paid 10 cents” to the U.S. before his tariffs. Tariffs are paid by importers (U.S. companies/consumers), not China’s government.
“Almost $2B a day” in tariff revenue. Math doesn’t pencil out; revenue never approached that steady rate.
Japan “opened up totally,” even rice, because of his deal. Market access remained limited; “totally” is false.
He made “Junth/Juneteenth” a federal holiday. Juneteenth was made a federal holiday in 2021 under President Biden.
He won the presidential election of Nov 5 in a historic mandate. He did not win.
Austria has no forests because they “clean the floors.” Austria is heavily forested; the claim is nonsense.
California Olympics only happened because he sent in the National Guard. 2028 Olympics were awarded by FIFA-style IOC process; Guard claim is irrelevant/false.
Men’s 2026 World Cup “only because of” him. The joint bid won via FIFA vote; not solely because of him.
Judge ruled his LA Guard deployment illegal but allowed “300 to remain.” Self-serving spin; no such carve-out is documented.
He alone has “the highest expertise” on tariffs/grass/ballrooms/anything. Boastful superlatives without evidence are not facts.
